Real Estate in Poble Sec
Poble Sec, literally translated as “Dry Village” in Catalan is one of Barcelona’s neighbourhoods which has witnessed the most amount of change. Geographically Poble Sec is located between the park of Montjuic and the wide avenue called Parallel, sometimes dubbed the Broadway of Barcelona for the copious amount of theatres one can find there.
In the past few years, this neighbourhood has been enjoying a tremendous increase in caché and the appearance of Michelin starred restaurants, with thanks to Adriá Ferra, has added a chic touch to the neighbourhood. Clients of ours looking for Poble Sec property for sale tend to favour the refurbished apartment projects we specialise in and which are often more reasonably priced in Poble Sec than other Barcelona real estate.
Poble Sec has extremely humble origins as those who did not have much wealth ended up living in Poble Sec. There was no water supply in this area until the late 19th century when a fountain was added and as a result, the area was named “Dry Village”.
Although Poble Sec is well connected to the rest of the city, it is not overran by the touristic areas of Sant Antoni or El Raval. Thus, Poble Sec offers a safe haven from the hustle and bustle of Barcelona.
Poble Sec has excellent transport links to; not only the rest of the city but also the world, as a short walk to Plaza de España gives you the Aerobus with buses every 5 minutes to the airport. There are three metro stations: Parallel, Poble Sec and Espanya. There is also the 758 metre long Funicular de Montjuic which departs from Parallel station.
